A Knight in Emerald City Being Planned

The Central Catholic Development Foundation announces its chairs of this year’s fundraiser, A Knight in Emerald City. Join us in congratulating and thanking Dr Doug and Tena Herbek, along with Brandon and Stephanie Connick!

Our 2017 event commemorates the 20th anniversary of The Knight Dinner and Auction and will be on Friday, November 17, 2017. “As a former board member and past president of the Central Catholic Development Foundation, I am keenly aware of the support that the foundation is able to provide to GICC as a result of The Knight,” Brandon Connick said. “Stephanie and I, along with Doug and Tena Herbek, are excited for the opportunity to assist the foundation in presenting A Knight in Emerald City.” Recalling the many Knights past, Stephanie Connick added, “The amount of volunteer hours put in by GICC students and families is amazing. Having students help during the Knight set-up/clean-up, as well as during the event, gives them a real picture of how much work goes into this gala fundraiser.”

The Connick family consists of one current middle school Crusader (Katie) and three elementary students (Abbie, Ellie, and Jack). The Herbek family has already graduated one Crusader (Emily), has three Crusaders in high school this school year (Andrew, Sam, and Grace), and has an additional two in elementary school (Maggie and Caleb).

“It is truly rewarding to see how a school community can come together to accomplish all of the work needed to complete The Knight,” Tena Herbek shared. “For 20 years the GICC families and friends have taken this challenge on and succeeded! To be part of this tradition of success is an honor.”

Event History

The Knight Dinner and Auction event began in 1998 and became the school’s premier fundraiser, raising up to $200,000 for our young Crusaders. This elegant dinner served by students, parents, and patrons also features games and raffles as well as a silent and live auction. Our history of success is due to the tremendous efforts and generosity of our volunteers and community.
