Campus Ministry
The Campus Ministry of Grand Island Central Catholic focuses on developing and supporting the faith life of our students, faculty, and staff. Campus Ministry prepares students to become more involved with their faith and parishes, and to minister to the needs of each other. This is done through developing the spiritual and moral aspects of our students' characters, contributing to the building of a school community rooted in Gospel values, transforming our society by acting for justice with and for others, actively participating in the sacraments of the Catholic Church, and developing a personal relationship with Christ.
We celebrate Mass weekly throughout the year (all are welcome) and explore our Catholic faith within theology classes that involve religious discussion, music, service, and prayer. Students of all faiths are welcome and have the opportunity to join together in these experiences. |
Religious Retreat
As part of Grand Island Central Catholic's Religion requirements, high schoolers must complete an administration-approved religious retreat, mission trip, or pilgrimage prior to graduating. These experiences refresh and revitalize, give the opportunity for more time spent in prayer and contemplation, and rekindle and deepen one’s relationship with God.
Service
Grand Island Central Catholic recognizes that a Catholic education has a basis in the teaching and actions of Jesus Christ, and therefore requires students to complete service hours. The students at GICC have a challenge to give volunteer time each school year in an effort to grow their own character in mind, body and spirit. Specifications per grade level are:

Literacy Council Tutoring
Our high school students have created a partnership with the Literacy Council of Grand Island to help with one-on-one English language tutoring. Just like the Literacy Council's motto: Teaching People Transforming Lives; our students are proud to provide help that will enable our neighbors to be successful in our community by learning, growing, and understanding new language skills.
